How Do I Request DCF Fair Hearing? To request and begin the fair hearing process, you must file a written request for a fair hearing with the Department’s Fair Hearing Office within thirty (30) calendar days after receiving the decision that you would like to appeal.

 Include in your letter:

  • Your name
  • The date the decision was made
  • The name(s) of the child(ren), if any
  • The name and address of the office where the decision was made
  • The decision you wish to appeal (it is helpful if you include a copy of the notice DCF sent you)

You must also send a copy of your request to the director of the office where the decision was made.

You will then be contacted regarding the review process.
