Fight Back Against Outrageous DCF Demands

On March 2, 2018, for days we have been forewarned to batten down the hatches that a nor’easter was coming Schools were cancelled throughout the entire state and also throughout New England. When the storm came, it came, and it came good, and it gave us a good licking. Howling winds, sleet, snow, rain.
A client of mine received a phone call from the DCF social worker telling her to go out that afternoon and do a urine screen in this horrific 80 to 90 miles per hour wind. I said you won’t do anything of the such. There’s a state of emergency declared, much to the credit of the governor. There are power lines down all over the state. There are trees down that have already killed a couple of people. And in the middle of this storm, my client is asked to go do a random urine screen, despite the fact the previous eight months she had done clean urine screens.
And she says, “Attorney Seaver you always said that when DCF rings the bell, you got to answer the bell.” And I said, “You’re correct, but this was an exception.” She says, “There are no exceptions. They’re challenging me that I can’t do this urine screen today, and I’m going to do it no matter what you say.” And I just shook my head and I said, “Oh my heavens, I’ve created a monster.” But she was right. I did say what she said I said.
She went out, much to her credit, and did a urine screen in the middle of this horrific nor’easter, which came back negative. We were told on Saturday, March 3, that in a few short days we were going to have a second nor’easter, starting on March 7, Wednesday, going into Thursday, March 8. And I’m going to give you three guesses what happened, and the first two don’t count, when my client got a phone call, same client, at 2:30 on Wednesday afternoon… ah, you cheated… you must’ve known… they asked you to do another random urine screen in the middle of a nor’easter the following day on March 8, 2018.
And my client went through the same drill again. “I’m not going to listen to you Attorney Seaver. You told me when DCF rings the bell, you answer the bell.” And I told her, “I don’t want you doing it in the middle of a nor’easter.” “So, I’m gonna go do it anyways.” And she did. And she passed. It was negative. Now when I saw DCF on Friday, March 9, they first said, “Well, we sent her out because we had to work that day. So, it’s no big deal to go out in the nor’easter.” But then they apologized, after I had told them how it was state of emergency. And they apologized to my client, much to their credit, for sending her out not one but two different nor’easters.
So, the moral of the story is that DCF are buildings, but they are more than just buildings, they are more than just a government, they are people. And people are mere mortals and mere mortals make mistakes, and that includes DCF.
They admitted it and apologized, and I take my hat off to you, DCF, for doing that. It takes a bigger person to admit they’re wrong. Hi, my name is Chris Stevens, I have recently gone through and beaten charges of domestic assault and battery. I was charged 2 months before the birth of my daughter. The mother has since given birth on August 24 of 2018. On September 28th of the same year she was involved with another domestic assault, resulting in the removal of our child along with her older child by the department of children and families. Since the removal I have introduced myself to the department as the father of the removed child. I have taken a dna test and been proven the childs father. Since I found out the child has been taken i have freely worked with dcf to obtain custody of my child. The court case has taken well longer then expected but eventually i was proven innocent by a jury on August 1st 2018. Since then dcf has still expected me to complete a certified batters program, even though i have never been convicted of any assault, they refuse to release my daughter to me ever though i have done nothing to keep me from taking custody. I need help, the department refuses to give my daughter back.
The system is corrupt and rigged by crazy people. It’s all about $$$ people. Don’t you get that ?? Attorney Seaver wouldn’t take my case “because I couldn’t afford him”. Lol I’ve paid 8k so far and my kids were (kidnapped by dcf) at daycare thrown in foster where they were being abused all for nothing. I don’t do drugs or drink!, my kids are happy healthy children. They have never even been on antibiotics for Christ sake. But dcf gets ahold of them and my 3 yr old goes through physical abuse ? How is this ok? Why is no one caring? Why is my dcf worker totally against me ? Never in my life have I witnessed evil like this. Evil that shakes you to your core, these ppl are relentless soul sucking narcissists who lie about everything it’s ludacris! It really makes me sad because it just shows the lack of humanity ethics and morals we are all supposed to live by. But if you can witness a 3 yr old go from being happy go lucky with no prior history of abuse at all and put her in a dirty non English speaking home and she’s telling mommy “I’m going to get a pow pow” what in the fuck am supposed to do? It’s evil at it’s finest and it’s disgusting for anyone to entertain false accusations of children. I’d do anything for my kids and I mean anything and this is what I get in return. No reports of abuse were ever ever made that’s the worst part about it. But these ppl are the “exception” point blank period the end. I have no faith in the system because it’s done no justice for myself or children. If anything all of us will be in therapy for ptsd onset by dcf. And I’m not half kidding about any of this. End rant!
